not really a racing fan, but i watched today a great race.
what made it special was that tony mccoy was on board the winner, after 15 years as champion jockey and 16 failed attempts at the big race he finally made it.
reminiscent of the 1953 fa cup final with stanley matthews.
even more important, i had 50pence each way on his horse.

Always used to enjoy watching the Grand National many years ago. My dad used to go down and place the bets, and I`d have the newspaper in front of me at home with a map of the course, and always hoping for a big pile up at one of the fences, hoping it wasn`t mine that fell. No way now of course, and I look back at how cruel it actually was with all those thorny fences and the horses destroyed through broken legs etc.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

i have my doubts about the race colin, some of the jumps look far too difficult, apparently they had made a lot of the worst jumps easier this year.
i did not hear of any fatalities, was there?
I think the horses are trained for the race though but obviously accidents happen.

This can`t be the Grand National Howard, you`ve only got three punter`s!

I backed the winner.....£1 to win....but the money will not change my life and I'll still be taking the kids to work on Monday...
