I tried to book a future appointment with my GP today and was told by the receptionist, "I can't make any appointments because I don't know what the clinics are yet". I stated that I had no idea what that meant, only to have the same phrase repeated back to me.

Me: "Well, any idea how long it may be 'till I get to see my GP? A couple of weeks? A month?".

Them: "No. I don't know the clinics yet. Try again in the next couple of days".

Me (after checking diary): "Would Tuesday be OK?".

Them: "Try again in the next couple of days".

I presume by "the clinics" they mean appointment spaces or Doctor's shift patterns. Well why don't you know that? I've never come across this before. So then, you can't give me an appointment because you don't know what the clinics are, and you don't know when you are going to know what the clinics are?

Well I can't make it down there again 'till Tuesday and possibly won't be able to get to a phone "in the next couple of days".

    Condescending is the word.

I've never not been able to make an appointment with my GP. Even if it's been a month away, I've always been able to get a time and date.

Anyone any idea what may be the issue here? (DM type ranters need not reply).
