Is it not time to have an overhaul on how government collect our money by taxiation and how it’s allocated. How money can be spent locally to benefit people. Not fancy schemes but to make life simpler. No good having attractions if no access to public transport.Creation of fancy jobs with unexplained titles does not help the thousands of elderly needing care in their homes .NHS staff need more support so they can do the job they are trained for .Thats a start

I think the thing that irritates me is the Government and Councils can not find money for so many things that could improve so many lives but can find it for schemes that have no real importance or benefit.

I think the bigger issue is around do many differing opinions .
Without defending the council , on sure whatever they did , someone would oppose it and have there own ideas .
Of course also it's very difficult to guage local opinion .

Yes there will always be differing opinions but when it comes to schemes that cost millions or many thousands of pounds we should at least have some say regarding that expenditure.
At the moment I am especially thinking of the recent ridiculous cardboard looking benches, the open theatre on the cliffs and that dangerous cycle/bus lane.

Got a photo from my son of the research group he works with (Physics - photo voltaics and batteries). Greater majority of PHd students Chinese - some now being refused visas due to interest of security services! Meanwhile Lack of funding for UK students.
Germany made the same mistake with PV research. Research done Germany. Cheap panels from China killed German manufacturing.we are training our main competitors.

Quickly, as I've said before. I can think of no Town in the UK with more potential than Dover, and it's down to history, history, history.
Bronze Age boat, Roman Pharos, Castle, Western Heights most places can show 'a period in history' , we've got the bloody lot.
And the idiots gave us the White Cliffs Experience.
Apparently one of our Councillors has a CSE in History so that's all right.

I never voted for the Whitecliffs Experience in the first place.I looked after the Musuem as much as budgets allowed.I was always for the History of Dover so lucky to have it all around us.Words failed me when I saw the side show of The White Cliffs Experience. The one good thing was the Round House Theatre and now KCC have grabbed that.Young people learnt so much from the productions that were put on.

It's those difficult areas .
Councillors to be elected don't have to have any experience in anything , and often that shows lol

Idid not get elected the first time I stood .For years before I became a Councillor I went to DDC meetings.I recall going to Deal for Housing Meetings I also attend planning meetings.I knew the councillors I did a lot of homework.I knew every road in River and the people who lived there. My name was well known before I became elected as I ran several clubs in the village.
