    This is not party political, there is no rule to say only Conservatives do what you say.

    Besides its a different matter, Councillors are either retired or have 'day jobs' and are not salaried at £65,000 pa (plus expenses) as backbench MPs are. No doubt Brown also claimed for his second home in that period as well.

    The individual councillor has to decide whether he can serve his electorate properly is he/she moves away from their area but that is very different to being paid a salary and absenting yourself from the job you are paid for.
