Yesterday afternoon my daughter Tracey was on her way to Tescos through Melbourne Avenue. When she got to where the road divides at Honeywood Road she saw a car in the centre of the road with its hazard lights flashing. On closer inspection she saw an adult man lying across a young man in the passenger seat. She put her hazards on and got out to see what was wrong. The young man (17) explained that his dad had had an epileptic fit and fallen on him. He managed to pull up the hand break and put the hazards on and had phoned for an ambulance. He was very upset and shaking. By this time another car had stopped, it was a friend of Traceys. Between them they pushed the car to the edge out of dangers way. Both these ladies are very small and although several drivers slowed and stared not one offered any help. The first response car was soon there followed quickly by the ambulance who took the men in to treat them. Happy that all was under control Tracey and her friend left the scene, but what is wrong with some people that they see two small women helping and don't offer any help. These included a lorry driver, a bus and several cars.
Anyway I hope the dad is ok now and well done to the lad who doesn't drive but knew what to do. And a big well done to my daughter and her friend for what they did too.
Incidentally, my daughter is first aid trained so knew what to do - more proof that a first aid course is a good thing to do

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".
