The article describes a gollywog being placed behind the window of a person's residence.
Then it goes on to explain that the owner of the house could face a £5,000 fine, or even a jail sentence of up to 2 years.
The question that I pose is, are gollywogs illegal in our Country?
The article does not explain this, which leads me to believe that they are not.
This is very worrying, that a gollywog in a person's own house can cause that person to be consigned to prison, and I think it's time that the State speaks up officially and does some explaining.

I am sure that GWs are perfectly legal, just not as popular as they once were. The threat of fine and/or imprisonment is not for owning a GW, but for employing it as a means of racial harassment. That will not be easy.
A sad day for badge collectors when Robinson's ditched the GW figures too.

all a bit of a storm in a tea spoon i think.
the person who stuck the golliwog in the window clearly was trying to provoke and the people that complained about it must have incredibly thin skin and a lot of time on their hands to report the matter to the police.
why the police then take up the issue beggars belief.

I am unclear as to whether it is Robinson or Robertson jam.
Google gives both versions.

I love the image of binoculars being used to see the golly in the window in the first place, I would be unable to see what is in my neighbours windows unless I was very near. This strikes me as sour grapes over the planning situation and there is nothing worse than neighbours at war with each other.
Basing my judgement on the report I would guess the "villager" is right, they want the rural idyll without the inconvenience of the country life, bet they would complain if cows were in the adjoining field or a cockeral crowed early morning.
I used to live in lovely Worlingham after we retired from the pub, it is an extension of Beccles a bit like River is to Dover. I just can't remember Worlingham Manor, maybe it was set well back from the road and behind high hedges.

I was concerned there might be a 2 year jail sentence for the owner of a golliwog if a neighbour claims to take offence!
That way they could threaten to put millions of people in prison if it became a precedent.
To the best of my knowledge a golliwog is a kind of doll, and it seems to be the victim of discrimination.
But to threaten the owner of one with 2 years jail?!
