  Was wondering what all the dots were on the distant Prince of Wales pier this morning...well a few minutes ago in actual fact, so fetched out the long lens and here we are...
  
  

  

  
  
  Its a long way off and its a gloomy oul morning, not good for pictures.
  
  Clearly there's an exciting very packed fishing contest going on. Wonder what they catch down there?? not that dead whale that drifted by recently I hope, but no I guess mackerel or something. Im not sure what lurks in the deep there, something edible hopefully.

  saw a few anglers trudging homewards this morning, from what i remember friday night was competition night.

  I did notice yesterday that the tide was extremely high, and looking at the chart it seems to be one of the highest of the year, wonder if that has anything to do with it ?

  thinking on i am certain that the admiralty pier is where the competitions are held.

  The pier is always packed mainly with Eastern Europeans who fish for mackeral,I have heard it rumoured that people come down from London and buy the fish off them!
  If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

  Howard I think you're right about the Admirality pier. I've been to Sheerness today and there were a lot more people fishing at the beach than usual. May be no connection but it seems like a coincidence. As Paul said, it was a very high tide today.

  howard,there are comps fished on the prince of wales,its all so a standby pier in case the southern breakwater is un fishable.
