Goldfinches
- 7 March 2012 11:11157938just been reading that these stunning birds arrived in our gardens in record numbers last year.
a survey was conducted by the british trust for ornithology and carried out by over 14000 volunteers.
back in 1995 they were the 20th most regular visitor now they are the 10th.
apparently the growth in bird feeders is believed to be responsible.

Roger - 7 March 2012 14:17157954We get them in our garden but not so many as we used to. About 20 years ago there were a lot, and as many as 10 at one time stood on the bird bath waiting their turn.
They like teasels, if you have these near, and you can buy the black 'niger seed' which will attract them, but they may be a week or two finding it, but will then come back regularly for it.---------------------------------------------------
