It used to be my local years ago but no loud music in those days only a singsong around the old upright piano stuck in the corner and my old shipmate Reg Tipton playing his heart away. Reg could play anything you asked him, he could play with a fag stuck in his hand and every one sent a drink over to him in appreciation. He had them all lined up on top of the old Joanna, usually a small rum and at closing time he had to get them down him.
I don't go in there as much these days, only when I have missed the Whitfield bus, but I know Rab and Theresa, mine hosts. They have raised lots of money for charity with their Pub Walk and the Winkle club.
It would be a shame to see it closed down as it has been there since 1846 and probably longer according to the "Pubs of Dover" web site.
