14:3572831Just read that after 80yrs Cadbury's "Glass and a half" contravenes European Regulations.
Originally as the amount of milk in a half pound bar of chocolate.
In its place "The equivalent of 426ml of fresh liquid milk in every 227g of milk chocolate"
Not as catchy as "a glass and a half".
Trading Standards said it had no objections to the old phrase and that Cadbury could continue using it.

15:1572835I read yesterday that Germany has a government committee which meets regularly to examine all the bumf coming from Brussels and decides which regulations to adopt and which to ignore. Should we not have the same thing, instead of an army of bureaucrats whose job is to gold-plate the EU rules?

15:2472838Peter, we have a government committee that does the same after our civil servants have gold plated the original.
I see in Germany their regional government have the constitutional ability to turn down adopting EU regs.,

15:5272839surely this begs the question "why pass new regulations in the first place"?
it always seems that member states cherry pick what suits them anyway.

16:2072841See this morning the EU or courts may insist we continue paying benefits to foreign nationals [probably EU residents] not because it is EU law but because we are probably infringing their human rights. Debate

16:4172842Well thats interesting how a thread can change!!! and only the first half glass has been poured.
As Howard says some states cherry pick what they want and ignore the rest...is it about time we did the same instead of "It isn't cricket" to ignore the rules.
Watty. So if we had Regional Government we could set our own rules to what and what not that we want to implement. Wonder how diffent the rules are taken in Scotland and Wales???
Re your post 5. Again we are too benevolent hence why so many want to come to the UK. If its "Human Rights" then what about our human rights

20:3372866I blame this all on the rising price of copper (Cu).............

Oh, hang on, I've also found links to theft from church roofs(Pb) + manhole covers (Fe).
It's due to the rising price of recycled 'stuff'?
