18:5086240just seen a news item where police are warning people not to post on facebook stuff like:
just off on hols or at airport now etc and come back to find their house burgled.
the same applies very much to this forum, never tell us about your holiday until you return!!
i am sure that member knew this, just a reminder.

19:3786245i notice you are very shrewd on that issue paul, so should all that have their personal details in the public domain.
one district councillor continuously updates his "status" on facebook with things like "at a meeting in ****", leaving home now for ****".
he might just as well say "get your black t shirt and mask on, pick up the bag marked "swag", you have approx 3 hours to turn over my drum".

19:5886250There are some very naive people or are they just daft, out there including this councillor you mention.

20:0986254I actually know someone who bragged about their new car on facebook and put up loads of photos of it parked on their drive, showing their house in the background (their exact location was listed) and wondered why it was stolen a week later?!

20:1486259Being an occasional 'Agony Aunt' on a teenage forum I am always banging on about not disclosing personal information on the web etc but sometimes the adults are worse than the teenagers!

09:2686316You could always think contrarilly - announce on the web you're going away for the night, then stay in and invite the biggest bloke you know round for a cuppa or something stronger and see who else calls.
