  Brian - that was Norman Tebbit who was speaking proudly of his father who, when he lost his job, did indeed get on a bike and go out looking for work instead of sitting at home. He was making the point, a valid one, that too many people then as now, make too little effort to look for work. I have met many who go that extra mile to find work and these are the ones who succeed, much to the shame of the lazy gits who do not make an effort.
