  thought i would start this one as an add on to the history thread.
  
  when i was at school this was a vague second in the boring stakes to history, again television makes it interesting.
  
  that scottish bloke on coast for example is first class at getting something across in a clear but not condescending way, david attenborough(though not really geography) teaches us about the world around us with passion and eloquence.
  
  even that travelogue with stephen fry has shown an america i would never have known about.
