    Those be the dead bits Howard. Grass starts to die at around 4-6wks without water, it does so in patches due to various factors, like strain of grass, sub soil, level of drainage.
    The money I have lost this year in not being able to cut grass I shall recoup in the autumn re-seeding and re-turfing lawns
