Years ago there was a ploy by pregnant mothers to travel to the UK to drop their sprog in order that the child could claim to be British. This was abolished under the British Nationality Act. However the Human Rights have ruled that although not British the kid has rights of its own Not sure any country other than the UK abides by this ruling hence we are still considered a soft touch.
