It made a change from watching TV .Two hours catching up on DDC news .Some very good reports from the Leaders Of both political parties.Just straight talking and mutal exchange of information .Questions from members .The usual set questions ,however one or two which prompted the ruling group into action .I congratulate the two officers from Democratic Services prompting where necessary keeping the meeting in order..The voting takes longer on line.

No to the contrary.TV is repeats and news is Harry and Megan .By listening to an actual meeting you can catch up on more factual information than hearsay on face book .It was interesting to hear about the budget ,The questions were good.A Labour Councillor asking a question about the future of the Inovation Centre. An up date re proposed talks with government ministers on dualling of the A2 .The naming of the subway etc .Interesting to see how the meeting is held on line.

Town councilors have no power or say in the real life.

Yes they can .Aycliffe no doubt suffers problems with lorry traffic.Surely all councillors DTC and DDC should unite and fight for a solution to the problems caused.

From my recent experience I’ve begun to realise that Cllrs. go quiet when they simply don’t want to listen or when the ‘party machine’ thinks it’s not in their interests.

I put a petition in to DDC for extra parking at Aycliffe. Before that I contacted councillor John hood who did not bother replying to me
The scrutiny meeting at DDC meeting they agreed after my presentation extra parking at Aycliffe was required. this was on the Tuesday 10th October 2017. John Heron our old councillor had to chase them up for a walk round which did not happen until Aug 2019. John heron again chase them up to see if there was any progress.
Me and john Heron were in regular contact. John was getting very frustrated with lack of contact from DCC. He even sent e-mail. In fact the next contact was an e-mail in Oct 2019.
Since then It has gone very quiet. Our local MP has contacted DDC a couple of times last year and said they would contact me shortly. Still waiting
On the the walk I also pointed out we have no community centre, an area for a community garden, drops kerbs, area for a children's park and the state of the roads. This was all noted down. Guess what nothing.
Sadly with now with lack of money I do not believe they will ever be any investment in Aycliffe.
Considering extra parking was agreed in oct 2017 you can see Why I lack faith in DCC
When I did ask for extra parking they were happy to spend 100,000 pounds on beach huts at St Margaret's.. enough said.

Gary
Minor point it's Jim hood
Of course all cllrs should reply , that's one of things we see here with Collor he also says nothing .
For years I ran a youth football club in the area
And bingo nights in the church hall
But sadly the church decided to up the insurance so it was not affordable
And the council declined to move on the planning so the football had to fold in the area
Although we did take children from the area to the sports centre for a few years .
Aycliffe has, and Is suffering
But we did our little bit
