Well, yes, the day has come: I went to the Jobcentre today!

However, because my sister managed to get back into employment after a brief spell following redundancy. T'was only to hand in on her behalf the signing off sheet!

I read this in the link: "I went for one job in Canterbury to do fruit picking and didn't get it because they told me I needed to speak Polish."

In my time (signing on), I only ever once found a job offer for fruit picking (harvesting). I applied for it eagerly, and a reply never came through. These jobs are simply not given to local people out of principle.

My personal sadness is, I really would love to have some land to plant orchards and a garden full of vegetables, and possibly supply a shop or two. Or at least work for a farm that would allow me to dig and plant, even just seasonally.
It's the work I like doing most, always have loved it.
Not so much gardening in the sense of trimming bushes, but agricultural work.
