    #99 I take your point about the WTO (the CITES Convention is potentially another non-compliance) but I don't get the rest.

    I thought we do have a "free trade" deal with the EU (and them with us). Secondly, EU goods have to be produced and labelled according to their own (Single Market) rules and are still subject here to whatever Trading Standards checks occur inland; I know that doesn't absolutely guarantee an absence of horse meat, but then it never did.

    Credit to the French and whoever though - they were ready on Day 1!
