no doubt the hecklers complained along the same lines when they were thrown out, unfortunately yob/mob rule is the way of things.
tune in to a house of commons debate and see the example they set the rest of us.

Surely it would be fair to say that:
Not all believers in left wing ideology are 'right-on tree huggers' but many 'right-on tree huggers' believe in left wing ideology.
In the same way:
Not all UKIP supporters are 'small minded racists' but many 'small minded racists' are UKIP supporters.
We can't just lump everyone together because of one similarity.

I agree DT!. In fact I've deleted that last post of mine because it was wrong in all respects. It is worth listening to last nights Any questions to listen to the extraordinary reaction of the audience. I actually felt sorry for Dimbleby who struggled to cope in the end.

I didn't think there was anything wrong with it Phillip.
I will Iplayer that.
I have of course paraphrased and modified an established quote to make my point.
"I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative."
As true now as it ever was.

Well put DT1
All political parties have their extremist followers as illustrated by some of the blinkered posts from all sides we get on this forum.

Is Philip not talking about 'Any Questions'? The radio 'sister' programme to Question Time. I watched QT, and as usual the audience were the best part of it, although the Lib-Dem peer came close to talking sense most of the time.

I listened to "Any Questions" repeat this afternoon. It was spoilt entirely by the loud audience,

a bit of banter is OK but they never stopped. Obviously no bouncers there.

Indeed. What's more, all P are Q, some Q are R, therefore all P are S. So,
All sea-lions are lions
Some lions are cross-eyed
Therefore all sea-lions are called 'Clarence'

Not sure QT should be a guest on a thread titled 'Free Speech'. QT is policed speech: it rarely invites anyone who's likely to say anything outside a very narrow range of BBC-approved 'opinion', and is stuffed with barely-able-to-think ministers and other politicians who are remarkable only for their similarity.
