as far as i can ascertain only the times and the sun operate paysites, the rest are free for us to peruse.
there must be a drop in income from sales but i would think this is more than offset from extra advertiing revenue.
prior to the free sites i would buy a newspaper on a daily basis, now i read through the parts i want to read in 4 or 5 meaning that advertisers get their message across to a bigger audience than peviously.
i cannot see why the murdoch empire do not follow suit, after all why would anyone pay to read the times online when they can read the independent, telegraph and guardian for free?
