Just had an email in from our advertiser Hollis Motors, they are offering a great deal at the moment, Free MOT test when you book a service. They offer Courtesy Cars, Loyality discounts and more. Sounds good to me

Well done Hollis Motors - hope their services costs aren't too high to take into account the free MOT.
Good to see another company starting their own Loyalty Scheme - long time since mine stopped.

Excellent idea. Support local businesses before Tescos move in on the act....
I was surprised to learn there is no MOT scheme or Road Fund Licence in Jersey.Resulting in some old bangers on the road. All one has to do is insure the car and display an insurance disc in your windscreen.

So am I Marek.
It's easy enough to tie the insurance, road tax and MOT together to make sure that all are current.

It is really good to see the motorist getting a FREE MOT. The poor motorist is overtaxed and overburdened, there can be no doubt about it. I see Kevin started a thread yesterday that said that garages now charge 50p to put air in your tyres. Ridiculously bad. Air in your tyres was always free apart from recently. It was part of the service garages provided, from a time when services were provided to encourage the happy motorist to shop at your station. Not now though.

I agree. It's the responsibility of the insuring company to issue these discs why dont they have them in the UK? I'll try and post of photo of one.
We are off to the Gorey fete today. Jersey Oysters ,locally brewed cider wine and brandy live music kids fair and food stalls. Weather hot already sun shining forecast high of 23c..life is hard in retirement.. photos to follow.

Good to hear Colette. I used to have my Audi serviced there years ago when they had the franchise. Always heard good reports about them.
Roger
service costs over £285.00 or higher unless you have one of there service plans pay so much each each month and when your service is due its paid for, I have one best think since sliced bread

Howard, talking about gas, I heard a chap on the wireless this morning advising any one who uses British Gas to read their meter as the 18% increase come into force today. They estimate how much gas you have used to date and apply the increase on your quarterly bill. If you haven't used much to date you will be ripped off but then again if you are a big user you may gain.
I had my quarterly bill from EDF for electricity last week (estimated) and they had overcharged me by 666 units = nearly £70. Its a good job I check all my readings. I rang them up immediately and was ready to give them a mouthful but the chap who dealt with me was so nice I hadn't the heart. They changed it within 5 days.
