There is a massive increase in junk phone calls and being TPS registered seems not to matter.
We have been plagued by automated calls, texts and so on from PPI claims companies (or criminals claiming to be these).
Usually when I answer the phone and it is not a person immediately speaking to me on the end of the phone I just hang up. This morning though I had a call and the word pension was mentioned just before I hung up so I listened.
This automated call was telling that their records show that I qualify for a £1,000 bonus on my pension and to press 5 to find out more.
Naturally I did not press 5 and doing so may have cost me a lot of money if I had.
This is an out and out lie.
I can say this categorically as I, being a financial adviser, arrange and manage my own pension I know for a fact that there is no such bonus and this call is no more than an out and out fraud.
Beware - this can only be a criminal and if you get such a call do not press 5.
