    Given that the legal doctrine of strict liability applies to mining and drilling operators, it's the operators' legal liability insurers that need to be well-informed. Homeowners just need to make sure their policy covers legal fees for suing someone else. (Most do, but if you insured cheaply via meerkat.whatever, yours might not). Strict liability means both that intent or negligence does not have to be proven, and proof of due diligence is not a defence.
