"Different tidal conditions" "rough conditions" "calm waters" "damage they do to the marine ecosystem"
"massive problems for shipping" "infrastructure to link any tidal power"?

100's of Wind turbines are already sited off our coast, so that rules out 2nd 3rd 5th & 6th reason.

The tidal conditions in the channel are two ebb and flows per day, east west, low high with the only critical condition, being any rotating parts must be below the lowest of the ebb tides for maximum efficiency.

I could see that there might be some damage to the marine ecosystem but I don't know what or if it is enough of a reason not to look at this source of power, for our future needs?

I still cannot believe that these designers of the wind farms, spent and are still spending, £millions on in-frequent wind power, when almost constant tidal power, was only a few feet away?
