KATAPULT PRODUCTIONS (Kent Equity Members)
ON THE HALLS at the Astor Theatre Deal
Sunday Nov 3rd
A new play about the lives of music hall stars Marie Lloyd and Vesta Tilley will tour various theatres in the autumn. Called 'On The Halls', it will be presented by the professional Kent-based company Katapult Productions and will feature Ann Lindsey Wickens (Vesta Tilley) Marie Kelly (Marie Lloyd), Brian Withstandley ( The Chairman and King George V), Michael Thomas (Walter De Frece), Duncan Woodruff (Percy Courtney) and musical director David Harding (BBC RADIO 2).
The company promises an evening of 'musical comedy lively entertainment, strong drama and (we hope) enthusiastic audience participation in the familiar and some perhaps, now, not so familiar songs'. This production will feature such songs as 'Oh Mr Porter!', 'Burlington Bertie', 'It's a bit of a ruin that Cromwell knocked about a bit' and 'Oh, it's a Lovely War'. The play is written and directed by Michael Thomas. At times outrageously funny, at times poignant and disturbing, On The Halls brings the tough, hard working world of a Music Hall performer to life in a modern way, mixing many of the most well-known songs of the period with the very different life stories of two of its finest artistes. So don't dilly-dally on the way to see that a little of what you fancy does you good
