That's ok Lesley you are right, lots of people have a go and most couldn't tell you what KCC DDC Cllrs and DTC Cllrs do,but if anyone wants to find out then by all means come and shadow me,but I will warn you then will be no slacking off with endless meetings and ward work and of course some of us have full time or part time jobs.I chose to stand as a Town Cllr last election and knew that being a District Cllr as well meant that I could not be so high profile on DDC so I came off the Shadow front bench,as I enjoy the grass roots at DTC and getting involved more with the people of my ward and the Town.
Yes it is easy to have a go at any Cllr but we see very few people taking up the cause, the rewards are high of course at DTC it is just over £400 a year while at DDC as 'just being a Cllr' you get just over £250 a month as you can see we don't do it for the money but it helps. At the Mayor's Christmas Ball I fed and watered the Cadets and the Salvation army from my own allowance and bought a ticket to the Ball which I saw very little off as I was looking after our visitors.
