With all the talking going on about the port, I had forgot this.
From the East Kent Hospital Trust, I have just got this email.
Dear Candidate.
As you are awere,the East Kent Hospitals University N.H.S. Foundation Trust Elections to the Council of Governors ended on Friday 25th February 2011.
We have been assured that the election provider will be contacting candidates to let them know individually the outcome.
We are at present unable to confirm the results as we have not ourselves received the official notification from the Election providers.
Well as you know I am a Candidate and as soon as I know I will let you know win,or not,even if I am last.

I am going to stay as a member of the trust and try again next time,I am still going to try and get more and better services to our new Hospital. this is the statement I made when I was a candidate and this went out to all members before the vote.
I have always been a supporter of the new Hospital going on the Buckland site.
We are going to have more and better services then we have now.
But we still need to try and get a 24hour A&E unit which also would serve Deal&Folkestone.
The A&E units of today are too far away.
We also need to see more out-patients appointments done in Dover.
As it is today it takes up to 5hours round trip to get to your appointment and if you are old or in pain, or have young children to look after+public transport that is not that good,and on top of all that you are unwell.
I have said this at all the meetings I go to and if you vote for for me Iwill try and do my very best best for Dover
Well as you now know I did not get the seat,but I was a close second.
But I will carrey on and still put my views over at all meetings. Thank you.

There are three governors for the Dover district and just one comes up for election each year - fortunately.
They are there mainly to monitor and make representations to the Board of Directors.
The following is from a document on their statutory duties (all 80 pages here if you want to read it -
http://www.monitor-nhsft.gov.uk/sites/default/files/Monitor_Governors_Guide%2011.08.2010.pdf)
Every NHS foundation trust will have a board of governors which is responsible for representing the interests of NHS foundation trust members, and partner organisations in the local health economy in the governance of the NHS foundation trust;
• governors must act in the best interests of the NHS foundation trust and should adhere to its values and code of conduct;
• the board of governors should hold the board of directors collectively to account for the performance of the NHS foundation trust, including ensuring the board of directors acts so that the NHS foundation trust does not breach the terms of its authorisation; and
• governors are responsible for regularly feeding back information about
the NHS foundation trust, its vision and its performance to the constituencies and the stakeholder organisations that either elected them or appointed them.

Like other's you may want to take a step back and smell the coffee.
It's good that you wish to put your name forward and you have every right to do so, but with your losing every election it comes down to your credibility.
Of course it's not for me to say if you should stand or not.
But just some friendly advice

I do admire your enthusiasm that cannot be faulted, but with that goes your credibility.
For how long are you going on accepting being defeated
and classing it as a win???????
At some point you need to realise, theres more to life, but just as important there are other ways to help your local community
