Hi Bern,
I only discovered the chippie in Castle Street recently and am sold on it. Best in Dover in my opinion, lovely white fish, golden crispy batter and proper chips - wonderful!
You mentioned the other day that your daughter worked there so when I popped in there earlier I asked which one it was and she was actually serving me. What a lovely girl, smart, pretty. polite and a real credit to you. I've been impressed every time I've gone in there with the staff, they all seem very nice and very efficient and the owner has chosen his staff well. Just wanted to tell you because I've been working on the boat all day and must have looked a bit tatty so she probably wondered who the heck I was lol. Anyway, you must be proud of her and rightly so - a lovely girl

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".
Jacqui, how absolutely lovely of you to say! I don't know what to say - apart from Thank You!! Yes, the chippie is great (they have been very good to their staff as well as producing good food) and I am indeed very proud of Lily - she is all that you say and it is a real pleasure to be her Mum. And how really kind of you to take the time to say what you have said. I am a bit bowled over!! I may even have gone a bit soft and fluffy, but don't tell!
Thank you.

And you can take them down into Blakes and enjoy them hot and fresh with a drink (or two).

Are you referring to the staff or the food Roger?

Bern, I must congratulate you on the way you have raised your daughter, I will even shout it WELL DONE
I know what you mean about going "soft and fluffy", I have had some lovely comments from my ex shop customers when I have met them about the town.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Jan, I am so proud of Lily. I am proud of all my four children, but they are all so different. Jacquis kind and so very much appreciated comments set me off thinking about the nature/nurture debate. I think we brought all our children up the same, worked hard to encourage freedom of thought, courtesy and charm. And yet they are all so different in how they behave!! I see parents blamed for so much - sometimes with cause it has to be said! - but I am also acutely aware that kids from the same family/household can behave very differently indeed despite the similarity of parenting. I am cautious about blaming anyone for anything without an entire picture, but especially parents for whom the challenges can be so great. But actually, overall our children do behave well, even if one or two of them took a little time to settle and one or two behave better than the others! And I love them all so very much. EEkkkk - soft and fluffy is emerging again!!

Ha Ha Peter.
Not sure if the girls are hot and fresh, but the fish and chips should be ! And I forgot to say, only in the evenings (Peter and Kathryn only do great lunches, no cooking in the evenings - unless it's quiz-nights on a Tuesday.

Couldn't agree more Ian; sorry I didn't mention that before - Bern. Most "good" children are a product of their upbringing, sadly that's true about most bad children too

Congratulations Bern on such a lovely compliment for your daughter. When you hear things like that about your children it makes you realise you must have done a good job as its how they behave with others that is the much more reliable measure than how they behave in front of you.
