Dover is a small town, half the catchment area is the channel, Parmenter has rubbed some people up the wrong way, Kinnear’s recruitment & playing style, the cost of entry, the stream of locals going to Arsenal, West Ham, Tottenham, etc. Probably the ease of watching games on the TV is the biggest problem.
Dover Athletic will never again regularly attract the crowds they did in the 80’s and 90’s, and this season without an FA Cup run and patchy home form.
Parmenter, this season, has spent his money on Crabble and not on players. We are at a higher level than can really be expected.
Dover Athletic will never be a Football League club based just on the population of the town attending in large numbers.
