We were amongst the first to have these food bins in Harborough District. The council discontinued the use of them at about the same time they were distributed in Dover. Apparently they were not worth it from a finance point of view. We weren't at all sorry to see the back of ours.

Do not need to be a genius to work that out common sense really. stinking festering rubbish = germs.

There is a school of thought that says that the gulls will not attack rubbish bags if there is no food inside - one of the benefits of the food waste bins.
Not actually true though as they go for any bags in the hope that there is something edible inside.
