Who was it that was in charge of Education since the war (WWII, not any recent 'squirmish')?
Who was that over saw the struggle to rebuild?
Who was it that manufactured the decline in Industry?
Who was it that advocated the use of cheap labour overseas so as to increase profits in the much reduced home-market for the same goods we used to make for ourselves and others?
Who was it that foresaw the rise in prosperity through 'service' jobs, and then sent those same service jobs overseas?
Who was it that thought it a good idea to replace the home-grown workforce with a cheaper variety through untrammelled immigration?
Exactly the same people who moan today!
We have gone from a Nation of makers to a Nation of shoppers...who can no longer afford to shop.
Some; who were never involved in mineral extraction and/or manufacturing continued to do well, and became complacent. Yet, as those who outlay a far greater proportion of the money they have in tax are driven to accept less and less so the small businesses that rely upon their spending shall wither and die.
