The state of Folkestone's High Street is yet more proof that the High Street as we know it is well and truly dead in the water.
On the other hand the harbour area has improved immensely with the new Rocksalt Restaurant, a new fish and chip shop and the lovely fountains in the square. Even Tontine street has had a facelift and is looking very nice indeed with new shops and some good cafes. The shopping Mall, for want of a better word, is flourishing with Asda, BHS, Primark etc. The arty creative area is very smart, albeit with a few empty premises but is definitely on the up and that end of the High Street with Boots, W.H.Smiths and Debenhams is quite pleasing too. Roger De Haan's money has proved very useful indeed
Sadly High Streets with bustling shops are I'm afraid a thing of the past in most towns now.
