Accidents happen. But it requires a certain amount of callous disrespect to drive away without acknowledging the mistake. In relation to the mindless yobs further destroying such a memorial, there is this continued pre- conceived assumption that they"are finding their feet / get misunderstood/ allowances should be made etc". Boot camp, run by ex military personnel seems to provide one possible resolution and please, no social services attending, in case somebody shouts too loudly at one of the little darlings . It's time respect is shown on several levels, to those who died, to remaining forces, to the community and property. They failed on all counts. Thank you for highlighting this.

There is an ongoing problem with feral youths in that part of Folkestone, there was an exclusion zone in the Bayle area through to the Leas a few years back but lack of police numbers made it more of a cosmetic exercise.

Sadly, the police numbers together with all other services have been cut drastically. Quite how matters will " progress" is a question none of us like to try and answer , one assumes, because the outlook is not rosy. But what will happen with an ever expanding population near crisis point now , and set to grow ever more rapidly. If we have such poor regard and even less respect on display by some individuals for the authorities and monuments for example, how do we aspire to improve the situation? Do we put up and shut up? Ignore the threats of vigilante groups forming? What is the answer, in reality?

I heard Dover centre is to get 1 extra female police officer. By all accounts my assumption that the job might be too much for a female to cope with, taking into account that those less than savoury never venture out alone, is totally wrong. Allegedly the lady is a force to be reckoned with as those who shared the rugby field with her can confirm by many bruises.
