  In the summer of 1941 the RAF lost air superiority to the German Luftwaffe because their best fighter, the Spitfire MkV, was outmatched by the German's latest fighter, the FW190. In response the RAF had to quickly bring out a quick upgrade to the MkV, the Mk IX to regain control of the air.
  
  This model is the heavily armed FW 190A-7 of which only about 700 were produced before the A-8 became operational. The aircraft is from 3./JG1 based in Germany in 1944 defending against US bombers.   Marvellous attention to detail BarryW, have you ever thought of turning your skills to larger scale remote controlled aircraft, not only could your painting skills be seen by many, but ..... you can experience flying these classic aircraft as well

  Hi Barry. No, radio controlled is not for me. These 32 scale are about the right size for detail. The wingspan of the FW190 is about 12.5 inches. Don't mix them up with the small Airfix models we did as kids.....
  
  A company called HK Models is bringing out a Lancaster in 32 scale and it will have a wingspan of over 3 feet.... I would love to build that but it is just too big to store!!! They are also doing a B17 of a similar size....

  I wouldn't dare to mix up your excellent builds with the old Airfix kits of yore, Heaven Forbid!
  
  I understand where you are coming from with regard to detail, great things come in little packages
  
  One day I will get round to reducing the stockpile of kits I have up in the loft by actually building one. Before that I need to repair all the miniatures in my collection which were damaged in transportation from our old Ashford offices
