Flying to Atlanta
- 26 November 2012 22:21203276Ok folks i hae the chance of a week in Georgia next year, checked the cost of flights not too dear at all. The question is which airlines due i avoid for long haul flights. The prices do not differ by much.

A friend of mine travels to the states a few times every year uses AA (American Airlines), and swears by them - 27 November 2012 19:33203382I have always found Delta and Northwest very good,although they are much of a muchness really.If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!
- 27 November 2012 21:54203404Never had any complaints with Virgin Airlines. British Airways are ok but I found the seats a bit uncomfortable on long haul. Delta for some reason often have delays. AA are fine.
Ask for a 'bulk head' or Emergency Exit seat when booking or checking in as they have extra leg room, ideal on long journeys. July 1969, LaGuardia to Atlanta, Eastern Airlines Boeing 720, then onwards on Delta's daisy cutter DC9 to Shreveport via Montgomery and Jackson, Mississippi. Hope you will understand I can't give you any up to date information, Tom. Except to say that cheapest is not always best and US airlines still charge for beer. A lot.I'm an optimist. Virgin Airways; great service, food, staff, and free stuff on the plane like socks, toothbrush. (leg room in economy not great)
Delta: one of the best American Airlines
BA: good food, leg room ok, standard service
Thompson; probably the best leg room I have found economy long haul. Not bad food and service too.
Never flown American Airways.
KLM; (Dutch so doubt they fly from UK) reasonable leg room (try to get economy plus) excellent service. A constant snack and drink bar you can help yourself to!

If it were me, I would fly with Delta or American. American out of preference as they give extra baggage allowance over all their competitors. Ones to avoid - Continental Airlines (just plain crap) or Air India (yes, they do fly to the States from London!).
