Fly Tipping

  So, HMG are proposing, amongst other things, to stop prosecuting "minor" offences of fly tipping. To my mind, this and all the other so-called minor offences that have been mentioned elsewhere such as riding bikes on the pavement and general littering should be hotly pursued.
  
  Here is a typical example. While out walking with the dog the other day, another dog walker drew my attention to "two disgusting blokes" who were dumping stuff next to the High Meadow flats. I took their picture. When I got to the car they must have seen me as they were then loading some earth and hardcore on to the car. It looked as though they were removing it.
  
  Coming back 45 minutes later the same stuff formed a new pile that wasn't there before.
  
  It is obvious what had happened but as I didn't see it I couldn't prove it.

  I ought to say that in this instance I am fairly ambivalent about it as it will ultimately blend in. Unfortunately, fridges, washing machines and plastics of all varieties get dumped there as well.

  yes the green light has been given.

  Not sure about that at Citadel Road as that is/was used as storage by the Bed/Sofa place in London Road for storage

  Just read that fly tipping in England and Wales cost the taxpayer £40 million last year with that figure set to rise as councils increase their fee's for recycling and tipping at the dumps. Maybe it's false economy and the councils should encourage more council tipping by lowering and not raising their prices.

  I'm sure that a lot of fly-tipping is because businesses have to pay what they consider excessive charges for taking their rubbish to the tip.
  If there was no charge, they'd take it there - they have to dump it somewhere and it must cost the council more to collect the fly-tipping rubbish, than the income they may lose by allowing it to be take to their waste site for free.
