18:3788798east kent hospitals trust have announced that 4 people died of the flu at the william harvey hospital in ashford over a 5 day period recently.
two died of the swine flu type, 2 others were only in their 30's.

19:0888802These flu deaths are very sad. I had a liflong friend who died of swine flu last year, although she did have an underlying medical condition....but it seems such a waste. She battled other illness for a long time but in the end the flu took her.
Yes young people are indeed dying, even kids.
The shortage of flu vaccine isnt helping.
The middle-aged are the most at risk group according to the BBC tonight.

19:2788814scary indeed jeane, there was a story in the papers this morning about a 3 year old child dying.
it seems the vaccines should have been made readily available to the very young.

19:3088815From what I understood from the news the other day death figures are more or less the same as any other year, but this is no consolation for the families and friends involved.

21:2788843apparently they are not giving the under 5s flu jabs,on saying that the vunarable kids are.
footnote, there is nothing worse than hearing about a child dieing,it makes me quite sad to hear of it espesaly if somthing can/could be done to stop it.

15:3988923It makes my blood boil hearing young kids being denied access to this simple and cheap vaccine so much for looking after the future generation

17:0388932a vaccine costs 6 quid apparently, hardly expensive when compared to the risks of not having them.
