Perhaps Mr McSweeney should canvas opinion before claiming that the residents are unhappy with EKH. Most residents are unhappy with the actions of one resident, who is in the habit of making malicious claims against both EKH and DDC, and not with the managing company. Yes, there have been problems at St Monicas, but these have been caused, in the main, by residents actions, not by EKH or DDC.

As regards the key issue. The gate in question is vital in keeping the premises free from the flats being used as a thoroughfare. A claim that problems using the gate as a fire exit causing a crush, is quite preposterous, as there are only 3 flats that might consider using that gate as an escape route., and there is unfettered access to the front carpark.

The issue of fire extinguishers was resolved when EKH removed them from the properties. If some residents choose keep a fire extinguisher, then I would think that they should attend a course on the proper use of them, as using one improperly could cause serious injury to the user.

It should also be noted that very recently, EKH have installed state of the art smoke and fire detection systems in all of the flats at St Monicas.

Finally, The fire alarms are tested every Thursday without fail (much to the chagrin of my dog).
