a couple of hours ago passers by noticed smoke coming from a house and alerted the occupants.
a woman vacated with the family pets but a male occupant tried to deal with the fire himself, burning his hands in doing so.
fire crews from dover and whitfield were on the scene in no time and extinguished the flames.
Ah gotta love the firemen

glad apart form the hands no serious injury

This is a member of my family and they want to thank all the passers by that stopped and helped them, strangers and neighbours alike.
Six puppies and their mum were brought out ALIVE and the couple were both a little shocked and the fire brigade tended to his hand immediately so no lasting damage and no hospital visit necessary.
People of Dover showed their true spirit today and we are truly thank ful

So glad there was a good outcome to what could so easily have been a tragedy.
The fire brigade has my everlasting respect and gratitude for the job they do, they can have some terrible situations to cope with.

They were lucky then, the fire in the Bell at Shepherdswell a few years ago started in wiring in the loft and the pub burnt down almost completely because parked cars on Church Hill impeded the fire appliances for more that a quarter of an hour.

It was very scary and the clean up process is emotional not helped at all by the idiots at edf. I spent 2 and a half hours on the phone yesterday being transferred from one dept to another and still they couldn't get their act together and replace the main fuse they removed on Sunday. Finally lost it this morning and low and behold an engineer has finally arrived. Xx
