my neighbour phoned up dental line on christmas eve looking for emergency treatment for a raging toothache.
he was told that nothing could be done until early in the new year and take paracetamol.
who do these people think they are, they expect their pubs, restaurants, shops and other services to be on handfor them, in return they expect a 9 to 5 monday to friday experience for themselves?

It would not be a good time to have any illness so feel sorry for anyone who had dental difficulties. Have experienced similar misery in the past and of course it can be really bad. Paracetemol is bugger all use in cases of severe pain.
I think the best thing to do is get along to Boots and ask to see a pharmacist if all other options are not available. They may be able to suggest something. Some codeine related product is your best bet...Solpadeine have a special one that was recommended to me by a pharmacist..its the one that contains Codeine, there are some Solpadeines that dont. The one with Codeine has a red pack and is not out on display but behind the counter. You cant take for more than 3 days because Codeine is addictive.
I did get some good help from Dentaline in the past. Was grateful they were there late night on a couple of occasions in the past year.

Gladly have never had to use any emergency service over the festive period, but have had good service in the past even during the night.
I have long advised people not to get ill during a bank holiday. despite the fact that they are not a surprise and there are people paid shedloads of money specifically to manage health and social services we are still faced, every time, with people saying that they don't know the service, are short of staff, or they are only temporary. So tough titty, have your stroke/cardiac arrest/toothache/Ecoli more thoughtfully next time. If there is a next time.

That is sad to hear Howard.
The word 'Emergency' does not have the cache of old.
