initial reports said that 2 people were seriously injured and were treated by medics at the scene then taken to hospital.
we now read that sadly one passenger has died and another is seriously injured but no mention of the driver.

My thoughts are with both families.
Howard, I assume the driver was one of those two unfortunate people mentioned in the report.

The young girl who died was a bright vibrant funloving member of our village. The young man in a critical condition is my nephew.

I cannot give details of the accident due to the ongoing investigation but I can say that emerging information leads me to call for compulsory first aid training in all our schools.
My nephew is still fighting for his life.

I did see that the young man is in as yet a critical but stable condition in a report some days ago, but I have been unable to find any more recent reports of his condition.
I take it to be a very good sign that his condition is stable, as I am sure this is the first necessary step to recovery.
Lesley, as distressing as it must be, could you please relate what news there is.
But, only if you wish to, there is not the least expectation.

Lesley I wish your nephew a swift recovery and my thoughts are with you all. I totally agree with what you have said above. I cannot understand why we teach children a lot of things they will not use when they grow up yet something as vital as basic first aid skills is missed out. I for one have used my skills learnt at work a number of times on my days off.

Thank you all for your concern for Kyle and his family. He is now breathing unaided and will be undergoing surgery this week to repair a shattered pelvis. The head injury will need to be assessed once he has had all his other repairs taken care of. Still a very long way to go but we are encouraged by his improvement so far.

That is good news that he is well enough to undergo that operation, luckily he is a fit young man which must help his recovery.
