My dog is in mourning today, one of his favourite haunts is to become a pitch and putt golf course. Fingers crossed it's a success!
http://www.dover.gov.uk/planning2/Applic_net/detail.aspx?systemkey=211507Hurrah!!! Sorry about the dog-walk, though!

Yes Scotchie is right re a previous effort, yes I think a full golf course was mooted several years ago and of course we all were awash with optimism. Much discussion took place and I think we even had design plans for it...but alas after a degree of huffing and puffing nothing happened..the dust settled and the tumbleweeds blew in right over the optimism...and life returned to normal.
A pitch and putt course might be more achievable though. Sorry about the doggiewalk ChrisK.

I understand the wedding venue is the old Channel Tunnel workers site on the left hand side - there;'s a couple of really nice buildings there.
The Golf Course was indeed brought up a few years ago (we still had our guest house, so it must have been around 8 years ago or so); I was told the reason it didn't progress had nothing to do with planning permission or finances, so not sure what the problem was then
If it happens, it will be fantastic and just in case it does, I'll keep my mouth shut from now on.

You are right Roger the new pitch and put will be on the right going out of Dover, the Barn on the left is the wedding venue and it is really nice inside, seats 200 meals upto 130.Parking for nearly 1000 cars, looking at it for future use today might be an ideal place to have some form of function for DoverLive.

Interesting times to develop a golf course? I suppose someone has done their sums?

Sounds like an echo from the not too long distant past, maybe the main gnome office will be transfered from the HQ based in Park Street, the gnomes will enjoy the 'pitch & putt'

It'll be interesting to see its proposed location, what with Little Farthingloe Farm first, then the detached bungalow, the the sewerage works, then the Plough; where in between would it go unless one of the above, is to disaappear.

So what was wrong with the 9-hole pitch & putt at Crabble Athletic Ground? I used to spend hours running a flymo around the greens and tees!
