The land at Farthingloe has never been part of DDC's core strategy. It has never appeared on the map of proposed areas. It has passed through the hands of various speculators since being disposed of by Eurotunnel Developments Ltd who acquired it as part of the transfer of assets from TML.

The current application simply re-presents the one dismissed by the Supreme Court in 2017. Their judgment may be summarised (inter alia) as stating that permission may not be granted for development on an AONB without adequate justification of the economic benefits and that the land was greenfield not brownfield.

There is a strong suspicion that the current Tory led council, having already unnecessarily spent about £250,000 of taxpayer's money appealing this case , will once again pressure their own planners to approve it in its unjustified and grossly inappropriate size and magnitude.

Now more and more locals are beginning to ask why. It's the old story - cui bono?

Ross has described very effectively what many people feel in #548.
