16:1371165I bought a pile of tatty old books from the local auction...mainly for the old annuals for my daughter but included was the above book which contained an old photo of Richard Roberts Ex -Coxswain of the North Deal Lifeboat. Photo by H Franklin & Son Deal .HE had 43 years continous service and in 1874 he brought the first lifeboat the VAN KOOK later renamed MARY SOMERVILLE to be placed on Deal beach. The book also covers Kingsdown and Ramsgate plus other areas. It's dated 1909.
If anyone has a keen interest in the history of the lifeboats or knows if he has any descendants then please email me and I'll send it to you.Just put the p& p in your local lifeboat charity box upon receipt.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.
