  Some aspects of this are certainly at the rabid end of paternalism and yet newspapers and other media, that would protest strongly that they are ultra modern and liberal, do exhibit much the same sort of attitude to the behaviour and life style choices of 'our own' fair sex.
  I imagine that there is much common ground within the mores of us and them.
  
  Religion is not a get-out clause in disobeying the law of the land.
