The post you are reporting:
PaulW did not tell us how to vote, he did advise us that some documentation was missing, but not by design, not to deceive the Scrutiny committee.
Keith, in your post 53, you say John told you that PaulW TOLD us how to vote: two things, John was not at out group meeting so how can he (honestly) say that and secondly, it's isn't true to say PaulW told us how to vote - he never does; he did give us more info. which helped us change our minds.
John did not attend the Scrutiny committee, yet you keep quoting him - why ?
As in any scenario, you make a decision on the information before you; if however more information comes to you, you have to be honest with yourself and re-appraise your decision - and that is what happened. That simply can't happen if you are a Labour Councillor though, you have to vote the Party way
The Labour person who was most vocal on Monday didn't attend the Council meeting to air her views, I have no idea why she couldn't turn up on Wednesday, but it would have been a good opportunity to speak.
Whatever an individual Labour person thinks, they can only vote on party lines, so if the party decides to vote on a really stupid point (for example putting back the Core Strategy back to square one, or giving builders and developers cart blanche at Whitfield, with no protection for the residents at Whitfield) then even if a few of them feel this is daft, they still have to vote for it.
Someone said about PaulW leading the Conservatives by the nose; this is so not the case, but exactly fits the description of how Labour work. It would obviously suit the Labour people to put this wrong idea forward, but it simply is not true.
Thank you for your comments of support Marek and your's too Vic.
