Happening tomorrow....
Because it is business orientated including networked machines, it is going to be a complex operation. There is a lot of bespoke software to be brought accross and in some cases modified, new software installations and Windows 7 operating system to adapt to. My past experiences of this kind of operation does not give me great confidence that all will go smoothly!!!! The last time it was 3 weeks before I was 100% operational!
I expect it to take all day tomorrow, so I am not sure what kind of computer access I will have over the weekend and my computer people will not be back for 'snagging' until Monday. They do seem to know what they are doing so my worse fears may not be realised but in the worse case scenario I may be reduced to Blackberry internet access only for the weekend and that will mean my Blog wont be updated until it is all resolved.
The good bit is shiny new, more powerful, computers with big screens, an improved set up for the network, more efficient working in the office and a nice spanking new colour laser network printer cutting my printing costs per page and no more Windows Vista! Quicker internet access should emerge as well and a better email facility....
Can't wait!
In the meantime, sorry if I am unable to update the blog before Monday night...

Even though I have Windows 7 at home, at work I am still struggling at work to remember all the setup for people machines :)
Been nice knowing you :)

Well the new pcs are in but still not fully functional. Email yet to be sorted, database links need resolving and a few other matters need sorting out Monday. At least I can get on-line. Won't be updating the blog until Monday as I have a very busy weekend ahead...

As an interested party, good luck with it all Barry - it must work, your livelihood depends on it.

Always, Howard - we will get there in the end and have even better functionality compared to before.

Well its coming along, not quite there yet.
Still need full email functionality, something called 'Goodsync' to be set up as well plus my Blackberry tools and syncronisation needs setting up. Waiting for the computer boffin to return.
Glad I don't have to go through this very often...
Much better back-up system, two lots to be done every night after full virus scans instead of just one external hard drive. Screens big and clear. Fast, very fast too....internet like lightening by comparison. Plus better networking between machines makes it all worthwhile.

must be costing you a fortune barry, bet it will earn its money though.
i would imagine that in your line you have to be state of the art just to keep one step ahead.
