Following the discovery of a possible explosive device, it is understood from reports that police and coastguards sealed off an area east of Copt Point, Folkestone, near to a camping and caravanning site while the area was made safe. The area is popular with fossil collectors.
Military personnel reportedly carried out a controlled explosion on the device, thought to be a mortar, at around 4.15pm on 22 April.
It is believed that the munitions may have been dug up by someone who went to enjoy the day at the beach.
