I blame streaky bacon. Or, more correctly; the consumers preference for the fat:protein ratio that is found in streaky bacon.
So when the carcases are cut-up it is those that have the desired fat:protein ratio just right that fetch the highest prices.
Any concerned animal husbandry-man might look at other factors; trouser filling arrangements, for instance. Draw the right conclusion and either market the leaner pork differently or alter the diet of those who have not developed the desired ratio, in an attempt to rectify the problem.
As we well know the current insistence on weighing and reweighing in the hope that the problem will sort itself is to continue...in the name of gender equality.
"Always look on the (b)right side of life.?"
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

Congratulations to my lovely grandaughter Danielle who passed all 12 of her GCSE s gaining an A* two As and the rest Bs and Cs. How did other members children/grandchildren do? There were a lot of excellent results at St Edmunds school.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".
