I am x army as some of you know ,and at times army life can be boring,I think that the UK could have 1000s of ex police officers on the streets 24/7 by using the army,at this time our army police a lot of the world so why not have them policing the streets of the UK, there would be only if any small cost behind doing it.Give them the training if the need be and lets use them on our own streets there is a big need for this to happen mainly in our big city,s and towns ,so lets get to it,

indeed Vick they should all have the training to double up as officer support.
providing we get rid of Common Purpose within the ranks,,it would be such a shame to turn our military into the minorities worshipping LGB politically correct wimps, we have in uniform at the moment

They can and should be used in this matter, we need more officers walking round both day and night.

Great idea on paper but using the military to play a support roll on the streets for regular patrols would just be another excuse for the Home Office to cut Police numbers even further. Just my humble opinion

I do not think so there is alot of time when the army need will need them back so police numbers and the army numbers might go up not cut.Thank you for your feed back sir

A major flaw is that it would hit military recruitment, I signed up for military service not police, it was bad enough having to do UN babysitting duties in the gulf and Yugoslavia. Babysitting drunks and yobs would have stopped me joining.

THE ARMY has always done policing round the world I done it. It is a big part of the army work anyway.BETTER walking the streets doing a good job then just training. It would not be for ever all done in turn.

Do we really want to see the army doing this job?
it would stink of becoming a police state(or in this case army)

Look out Mr Sansum, we'll be having roadblocks to weed-out suspected undesirables next.
